Jesus Christ possesses the attributes of God
Attributes of God: These are characteristics that belong to God alone, which distinguish Him from other gods.
Some attributes of God
1. Eternity
A duration without beginning or end. It escapes temporal measurement. An absolute permanence.
God transcends past, present, and future. He exists without beginning or end.
Micah 5:1 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”
John 8:58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
John the Baptist also said that the one who comes after me is greater. He was talking about Jesus.
Colossians 1:17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.
2. Omnipotence

omni- ← omnis = “all”
potentia = “power”
omnipotentia = all-powerfulness
God is sovereign and all-powerful. He has absolute power.
John 1:3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.
Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
3. Omniscience
From Latin omniscientia
omni- ← omnis = “all”
scientia = “knowledge”
Omniscience = knowledge of all things
And the word “omniscient” comes from omniscire
omnis = all
scire = to know
God knows the past, present, and future. He has absolute knowledge.
John 21:17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?”
Matthew 9:4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts?
4. Omnipresence
From Latin omnipraesentia
omni- ← omnis = “all”
praesentia = “presence”
Omnipresence = presence everywhere
God is present everywhere simultaneously, at all times. He is not limited by time or space. He fills the universe.
Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
Matthew 28:20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
John 3:13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.
5. Immutability
The state of being unchanging, stable, and unalterable.
God does not change in His essence.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
6. Holiness
Means set apart, inviolable, absolute purity.
John 8:46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me?
Hebrews 7:26 For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens.
