Day 3 – Titles Applied to Jesus Christ
- Sermon By: Rev. Jothson J.

Biblical proof of the divinity of Jesus Christ
Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Jehovah or Yahve is the special name God gave himself in the Old Testament. The name that was revealed to Moses in Exodus 3:14 .. I Am That I Am..
Why This Study?
Through this study, we want to explore the richness of the Scriptures concerning the divinity of Jesus Christ.Evidence that reaffirms the divine identity of Jesus Christ:
- *Statements made by Jesus Christ
- *The miracles Jesus performed
- *His resurrection
- *The testimony of the apostles
His divinity is not merely a doctrine; it is the very foundation of our Christian faith. Redemption would have no meaning if Jesus were not God.
The apostle John identifies Jesus as being of the same essence as God.
John 1:14 clarifies that the Word became flesh—that is, the Father incarnate through the Son, namely Jesus, who is Emmanuel, meaning God with us.
Therefore, Jesus has the same nature as God.
Philippians 2:4–11
The apostle Paul presents Jesus as the model of humility, who set aside His divinity by becoming human in order to save humanity.
Verses 10 and 11 prove that Jesus is equal with the Father; He is God.
Jesus is the Son of God in His divinity. He is the Son of Man in His humanity, and He is the Holy Spirit from the perspective of spiritual manifestation.
Since Adam is the head of lost and condemned humanity, Jesus had to repair the fall of humanity in Eden. That is why He is the head of redeemed and restored humanity.
Romans 5:12
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”
If Adam is the gateway to sin and death, Jesus Christ is the solution to sin and death. For this reason, Paul called Jesus the second Adam in 1 Corinthians.
Three Additional Observations
- Jesus Is Identical to the Father
Isaiah 43:11
“I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.”
Titus 2:13
“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”
By comparison:
In Isaiah, the LORD declares Himself to be the only Savior, while in Titus, Jesus Christ is identified as our Savior.
- The Son Has the Same Nature as the Father
Zechariah 12:10
“And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”
John 19:36–37
“For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.”
By comparison:
The same Father who says, “they have pierced me” in Zechariah 12:10 is Jesus, who is pierced on the cross in John 19:33–34.
The “only son” and the “firstborn” referred to in Zechariah is Jesus.
Philippians 2:9–11
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
If there is a living being in the universe before whom every knee must bow, it is God. He would not give His glory to another—and that being is Jesus.
- Like the Father, Jesus Is Lord of Lords
Deuteronomy 10:17
“For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward.”
Revelation 17:14
“These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”
By comparison:
The one called Lord of lords in Deuteronomy 10:17 is the Father, the LORD God.
In Revelation 17:14, the Lamb—Jesus—is called Lord of lords and King of kings.
